The Leon County Sheriff’s Office will conduct two DUI Check points on Thursday night, December 04, 2008. These check points are part of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office on-going efforts to stop impaired driving in our community. The first check point will on Geddie Road from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The second check point will be held on Veterans Memorial Highway in Miccosukee from 10:00 pm until 12:00 am.
Sheriff Larry Campbell wants to get the word out that impaired driving is a dangerous and, too often, deadly crime. “Driving after drinking is a choice. Choose to do the right and the safe thing: find alternate transportation, use a designated driver, or don’t consume any amount of alcohol if you intend to drive. Deaths due to alcohol-related crashes are preventable, these are not accidents – these are serious crimes with deadly consequences. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office will be out in force this holiday season to reduce the number of alcohol-related crashes by arresting impaired drivers and taking them off our streets” said Sheriff Campbell.
