DUI Wolfpack in Hernando County nets 19 arrests, 80 citations

A multi-agency DUI Wolfpack conducted last weekend in the county netted 19 arrests for a variety of infractions and dozens of other citations. The Florida Highway Patrol joined the FHP Auxiliary, Brooksville Police Department and the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office in stopping vehicles along State Road 50 and U.S. 41 from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday. The FHP reported eight DUI arrests, two felony arrests, four drug-related arrests, one warrant arrest, four arrests for driving with a suspended license and eight seat belt infractions. More than 80 citations were issued for other offenses, and 63 drivers received warnings and faulty equipment notices.

Letter carriers will collect food Saturday

United Way of Hernando County DUI law has teamed with the Letter Carriers of Hernando County for the annual Postal Food Drive in Hernando County on Saturday. Residents are encouraged to fill shopping bags with nonperishable food and canned goods and place them next to their mailbox Saturday before the time of their regular mail delivery. Food should be in nonbreakable containers such as boxes and cans. Collected food will be distributed to 25 nonprofit food pantries in Hernando County.
