The Sparks Police Department will be conducting a joint DUI checkpoint scheduled for the evening of December 20, 2008.

This will be one of the largest joint DUI Checkpoints in the region, with an estimated thirty or more officers participating, according to Sgt. Pat Dyer.

The Sparks police will act with the assistance of the Reno Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff’s Department, Carson City Sheriff’s Department, University Police Department and the Nevada Highway Patrol, Dyer said.

A Nevada woman employed to test drunk drivers has been charged with driving under the influence herself.

She was arrested by authorities with the Carson City Sheriff’s Department after she allegedly drove drunk to the city jail to perform a blood alcohol content test on a suspect.

She was arrested on suspicion misdemeanor drunken driving after she told a deputy she had a margarita before she drove to the jail and couldn’t pass sobriety tests.
