Police: Chanticleer arrested on DUI charge

20 11.09

A Coastal Carolina University football player is in trouble with the law after police in Conway arrested him with driving under the influence.

According to J. Reuben Long Detention Center, Austin Jace Shirley, 22, of Myrtle Beach, was booked into the jail at 3:16 a.m. Friday.

Shirley, a red-shirt senior for the Chanticleers, serves as one of the team’s inside linebackers and has previously served in the South Carolina National Guard.

No bail has been set for Shirley as of Friday afternoon.

If you have been accused of a drunk driving offense, you should waste no time contacting an attorney in your area to help you fight the charge. If a conviction is unavoidable, a DUI lawyer can get the penalties minimized.

I could not agree more. If you happen to have the bad circumstance of being arrested, not only is it important to contact any old attorney, but you must do your homework to find the right one for you. In this case with a high profile sports athlete is it possible that the arresting officer became excited about the proverbial big fish that he was about to reel in and get famous for catching and possibly jumped the gun because of it? We don’t know. At least not yet.
